"The visit of the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Shushi is condemnable." The Federation of Dutch-Armenian Organizations demanded explanations from the country's Foreign Ministry
The Federation of Armenian Organizations of the Netherlands demanded an explanation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands regarding the propaganda visit of the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Shushi in Baku. Mato Hakhverdyan, President of the Federation of Armenian Organizations of the Netherlands, told “The Dutch Diary” that they are in constant contact with the Secretary of the Federation, Inge Drost, and had long discussions last Thursday on various issues, especially about prisoners of war and sanctions on Azerbaijan. Against this background, the ambassador's visit to occupied Shushi is incompatible with the positions of the Dutch government and parliament, that is why FAON (Federation of Armenian Organizations of the Netherlands) sent a letter of protest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and demanded an explanation.
The Federation of Armenian Organizations of the Netherlands (FAON) has expressed its dissatisfaction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Baku, Mrs. P. On the occasion of Eizema's propaganda visit to Shushi, which was organized by the order of the dictator of Azerbaijan Aliyev. In addition to provide enormous misinformation, it was already clear that the authorities, by abusing the presence of the participants, wanted to create a false impression of support. FAON asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify how this election of the Netherlands took place, especially since during a recent meeting with FAON the Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again stressed that the Ministry prioritizes the work of the OSCE Minsk Group ( to reach a peaceful settlement of the conflict through negotiations) not to take other actions that can be interpreted as "counter-effective", such as the implementation of resolutions adopted by the parliament. "The Minsk Group co-chairs, France, the United States and Russia, obviously did not find it expedient to take part in this propaganda campaign, so they were absent," the statement said.
In response to the federation's question, the Foreign Ministry stated that they were not aware of it in advance. Then the ministry insisted. "It is customary for ambassadors to be widely informed, including by the Azerbaijani government. The Netherlands is aware of the fact that the Azerbaijani authorities have planned to organize this visit, and the information provided during this trip is one-sided. At the same time, the visit had an added value - to see the situation with one's own eyes, to ask sharp questions. " Therefore, the added value lies in "own observation and testing". "As an example, the ministry notes that once by its own observation, it became clear how important it is for UNESCO to be in those areas as soon as possible with an independent mission."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands has denied that the Azerbaijani authorities have put pressure on the Ambassador of the Netherlands to participate in this trip. The federation assumed this based on the tweet of the Azeri official, where it is mentioned that a serious conversation took place between him and the "Ambassador of the Netherlands" on the eve of that trip.
At the end of the statement, the Federation of Armenian Organizations of the Netherlands emphasized that the participation of the country's ambassador was inappropriate, and in this regard will remain in touch with the ministry. At the same time, they noted that they will pursue what kind of setback the Netherlands will pursue in its policy towards Azerbaijan.
Earlier, the ARF, Armenian National Committees of the Netherlands and Belgium addressed letters of protest to the ambassadors of the Netherlands and Belgium to Azerbaijan.
